It’s been confirmed that Gloria Govan is taking her "Basketball Wives" storyline to Los Angeles.
Gloria will head up the cast of "Basketball Wives: LA", which is currently being shot, according to Bossip.com. A source close to production reportedly revealed that the new series is set to premiere right as season 3 of "Basketball Wives" draws to a close.
Supposedly, Gloria and fiancé Matt Barnes won’t be pulling any punches about their feelings towards "Basketball Wives: LA" producer Shaunie O’Neal.
There’s word that the original series will then be dubbed "Basketball Wives: Miami" and that VH1 aims to expand the franchise to other cities, à la Bravo’s model for "The Real Housewives."
This confirmation comes just one day after NecoleBitchie.com reported that Gloria and her sister, Laura Govan, were shooting their own show. The first episode of "Basketball Wives: LA" will feature Gloria throwing a baby shower for Laura, who is expecting her fourth child with Gilbert Arenas. Laura’s participation on the show might be a touchy matter as her alleged affair with Shaq is one of the reason’s Shaquille O’Neal and Shaunie split up.
The sister act will reportedly be joined on "Basketball Wives: LA" by two high-profile wives who all come with their fair share of intrigue. For starters, Doug Christie’s wife, Jackie Christie, has already been pegged as cast captain. “If I had to compare her to anyone, I would say she is the Shaunie O’Neal of the show,” the insider said.
Kimisha Hatfield, who’s married to Ron Artest, will round out the cast. Lamar Odom’s ex-fiancée, Liza Morales, was offered a spot on the show, but she turned it down.
Maybe singer Monica, who’s married to the NBA’s Shannon Brown, could relocate and fill in for Liza. Just putting that out there!
