Drake has dropped the first single from Take Care and announced a release date for the album.
All it took was two short lines to introduce Drake’s new track to his fans and tell them when his sophomore effort would hit stores.
"Another piece of the story," Drake wrote on his blog yesterday in an entry titled "Marvins Room." "Single coming in July. Take Care coming Oct. 24th."
How thoughtful! Drake devotees know that this is not your average day on the calendar; October 24 is actually the rapper’s birthday.
Audio for "Marvin’s Room" has been mostly yanked from the Internet–not even the link from "October’s Very Own," Drake’s official blog, works anymore. Luckily, we were able to listen to the track before the leak was all but wiped from the Web.
"Marvin’s Room" finds Drake drunk-dialing an ex-girlfriend after a long night of drinking. Usually not a good idea anyway, the Canadian lyricist uses the song to try and woo his lost love while bemoaning how hard it is to be famous.
"Too many drinks have been given to me," he raps. "I got some women that’s living off me/Paid for their flights and hotels I’m ashamed/Bet that you know them, I won’t say no names/After a while, girl, they all seem the same."
He elaborates on the matter, rapping, “I had sex four times this week, I’ll explain. I’m having a hard time adjusting to fame”
