Meeka Claxton handles the ‘BBW’ heat

Meeka Claxton said she’s not as crazy as she looks on "Basketball Wives."

Meeka hasn’t left a great impression on most viewers this season. Whether she’s running her mouth about Royce Reed and Tami Roman, or trying her best to fit in with Evelyn Lozada and Jennifer Williams, a lot of people aren’t really feeling her.

When the "Basketball Wives" star got on the phone with TT Torrez, though, she’s not mad about how she’s portrayed on the show. "I know who I am, I know what it is," Meeka said. "I’m the one that’s here that’s the basketball wife."

Meeka denies hearsay that she was the one who begged Shaunie to become part of the cast. As the reality star tells, she and Shaunie linked up through a mutual friend who thought she would be a good addition to the show. Meeka claims that she was a little hesitant at first, but as we know, she eventually decided to join the cast with the support of her husband, Speedy Claxton.

Initially Speedy thought it would be nice to show a functional family unit on the show, and VH1 cameras had shot some footage with the couple and their daughters.  It almost goes without saying that he’s not so happy about the show actually turned out.

"New seeing it, I guess  he’s a little pissed off that it doesn’t look the way he anticipated it to look," Meeka admitted. "That’s the only person I feel bad about."

The overall tone of Meeka’s chat with TT was deny, deny, deny. The DJ called her out on her messiness and wasted no time asking why she seemed so pressed to be BFFs with Evelyn, Jen and show creator Shaunie O’Neal.

"That is what it seems like, right?" Meeka mused, seemingly trying to pass off her behavior as an act. "Truth be told, all I care about is my paper and my family. That’s what I’m all about."

And what about people calling her two-faced? Yet again, she said viewers have her all wrong, but she understands how they might come to that conclusion. "That’s definitely not me. I’m far from it," Meeka swore. "I would get that same impression had I not know myself and just viewed ['Basketball Wives']."

Meeka even denies that she sweats as much as it seems on the show. Instead she blames Miami’s incredibly humid climate and all the alcohol that she said cast members are encouraged to drink.

"That’s not my style to even be out there sweating like that," she stated, adding that she found a way to cut back on her alcohol intake in later episodes. "You’ll see as the season progresses that I start drinking a lot more water and keeping it cool. That ain’t me. I don’t know that girl."

What Meeka does recognize, though, is that she’s been cast as a bit of "troublemaker." As such, she doesn’t let her daughters watch the show anymore. Find out what else "the real Meeka" had to say about her experience on "Basketball Wives" when you listen to the interview below.
