Gabourey Sidbie talks about the swirl
Gabourey Sidibe was a little, um, nice when she sat down with Chelsea Handler recently. The "Chelsea Lately" host made sure she supplied the actress with lots of margaritas.
That’s all it took for the interview to become a televised girls’ night. As such, the topic of men naturally came up and Chelsea asked her guest what she preferred in a man.
"I just like a guy. I’m not super, super big on race, although I love a sexy, sexy Black man," Gabby said before pointing out that she wasn’t the only one on set who likes a little chocolate. It’s rumored that Chelsea had a fling with 50 Cent a few months ago. "Some of you White girls love you a sexy Black man, too."
Monica announces new album
R&B singer Monica hit up UStream last night to announce that she’s working on a new baby in the studio. The newlywed, who married Shannon Brown last year after a whirlwind romance, revealed that her upcoming album, titled New Life, is slated to drop this fall.
“The label [J Records] has asked me, do I want to take an October 4 date," Monica said. “Over the next month I’ll decide, because as of right now, we’re pressing up the new single and trying to get some clearances, which are very difficult, so if anything changes it will only be because of that. We’re working on it and I’m thinking that I will keep that October 4 date.”
New Life is a fitting title for the project, as her music will refelect the major changes that have happened in her life. “You get to hear some different flavors, but it’s definitely R&B,” Monica explained. “I think when you’re in a happy place, you’re able to do your job a lot easier.”
Estelle debuts ‘Break My Heart’
Estelle is hoping someone’s there to catch her as she falls in love. The British songbird has just dropped the luxurious video for "Break My Heart."
Although initial shots from the set made it seem like her collaborator Rick Ross was her leading man, Estelle’s love interest may just have been a figment of her imagaination.
"Basketball Wives" getting new cast member?
Shaunie O’Neal might be adding another woman to the team on "Basketball Wives." Celebuzz.com reports that Carmen Murray, ex-wife of Lamond Murray, is in talks to join the cast.
A deal hasn’t been inked just yet, but Carmen could be a breath of fresh air on the show as she has an establised career as a music executive. Melanie Fiona is even one of her clients. Neither Shaunie nor VH1 has confirmed the buzz, but if Carmen (pictured below on the far right) does sign on for the show, she’ll hopefully be joining the Miami cast, and all the drama that comes with it, soon.

Mike Tyson drama coming to HBO
What was life like for Mike Tyson growing up? HBO thinks you’d like to know. The network is producing a drama series based on the prizefighter’s life growing up in New Jersey.
“Da Brick” is described as “a contemporary exploration of what it means to be a young, Black man in supposedly post-racial America and is loosely inspired by aspects of Tyson’s youth,” Deadline.com reports.
Spike Lee will direct the project, while Doug Ellin, creator of HBO’s “Entourage,” will produce it.
“The initial idea was ‘Entourage’ meets ‘The Wire,’” Doug said.

Bishop Paul Morton calls on Eddie Long to repent
Maybe Creflo Dollar wants Eddie Long’s congregation to forget about the New Birth leader’s "wreck," but Bishop Paul Morton is calling on Eddie to repent.
Pastor Paul told his congregation that he’s "rebuking" Eddie, as the Bible instructs, untill Eddie shares the details of what happened between him and his four accusers.
"If he repent, forgive him. I can’t forgive somebody who does not repent," Paul said. "Repent. Don’t worry ’bout folk now. God can turn your situation around and give you a second chance. Just repent," said Paul who urged Eddie to "let the body of Christ know."
