Tracy Morgan returns to the stage

He’s back! Tracy Morgan returned to New York Saturday to give his first live stand-up routine since his controversial comments about the gay community.

More than three weeks ago, Facebook user Kevin Rogers said that Tracy slammed gays by saying that he’d stab his own son if he were not straight. Since then, Tracy has met Kevin, various members of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, and people who attended that June 3 performance.

His latest routine in New York didn’t add fuel to the fire. His material was, relatively speaking, clean. However, he did give the audience what it wanted.

“You’re all sitting here waiting for me say something about the controversy, right?” Tracy asked, which was followed by the Carolines comedy club audience’s approval. “I’m 42, man and now all of a sudden I’m homophobic?”

He also joked that his father was the lead singer in the Village People and that his godfather was the Indian. Tracy said he “was sitting right there when he wrote” the song “Y.M.C.A.” To no surprise, Tracy did talk about another touchy subject, in which he received mixed reviews.

“Don’t ever mess with women who have retarded kids,” he said. “Them young retarded males is strong. They’re strong like chimps.”

Uh-oh, Tracy. We hope you didn’t dig yourself into another hole. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the good news is that no one walked out of the performance.
