Gilbert Arenas wants ‘BBW: LA’ stopped

If Gilbert Arenas has anything to do with it, the spin-off reality series, “Basketball Wives: LA,” will never see the light of day.

Although the show, which stars Gilbert’s ex Laura Govan, is already in production, Gilbert wants to put a stop to it. He claims Laura’s participation in the show is an attempt to exploit him and would harm his image.

There are no plans to mention Gilbert’s name in the show, however, in court documents he alleges that the “mere presence of defendant Govan and the title of the show is an obvious reference” to him.

His current stance is in complete contrast to what was implied in June when he tweeted, “for everybody talkin about my BM on that tv show..i dont care what she does..if she gets a job I [pay] less money to her(SMART THINKER HERE)."

“1 they cant lie about u on tv u can sue the show 2 if they hav a job it lowers ur pay..so let them work,” he reasoned.

Gilbert is not the first NBA baller to try to send “Basketball Wives” to the bench. In May, Chris Bosh filed suit to keep his ex, Allison Mathis, off the original series. She has since filed suit against him for supposedly lying to show producers about her eligibility to become part of the cast.

Shortly after the series premiere, Matt Barnes, the fiancée of Gloria Govan, threatened to boycott the show. Although the two were featured in season 1, Gloria kept her distance from the show’s most popular stars.

Most of the women on the series are not currently married to the NBA players with whom they’re associated. Meeka Claxton, who joined “Basketball Wives” in its third season, is married to Speedy Claxton, and is currently the only actual wife on the show.

The fact that Laura and Gilbert are no longer a couple may be part of the problem. The two are not on the best of terms. In February, Laura had child support papers delivered to the Miami Heat player during a game.

    The two have four children.
