Jennifer Lopez and hubby Marc Anthony have called it quits on their marriage, but they’re still working together.
The crooning couple announced Friday that they have gone their separate ways after seven years as man and wife.
"We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters," the pair said in a statement via J.Lo’s rep. "It is a painful time for all involved, and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time."
For years, J.Lo and Marc seemed to be the picture-perfect example of Hollywood love. They frequently performed together, and even posed as Aladdin and Jasmine in a new ad campaign for Disney Parks. Most recently, they hit the stage together for a performance on the season finale of "American Idol", and their set ended with a passionate kiss.
This split comes after news that J.Lo and Marc, who are the proud parents of 3-year-old twins Max and Emme, had begun production on a reality show titled "¡Q’viva! The Chosen". According to E! News the breakup of their marriage will not affect production on the show, and the former lovebirds are still working on their series together.
"Both Jennifer and Mark are committed to the ‘¡Q’viva!’ project and will work on it as planned," said a rep for XIX Entertainment. "The show goes on!"
The same goes for the Kohl’s clothing line. "The Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony brands have always been positioned as two separate, distinctive collections that offer high-quality contemporary style for men and women, and we look forward to a successful September launch," a rep for the department store told New York magazine.
The divorce comes as a surprise to many, but there may have been signs that the two were parting ways. One week before breaking the bad news, Jennifer attended the BAFTA Brits to mingle with Prince William and his new bride Kate Middleton without Marc. Also noticeably missing was Jen’s wedding ring, the New York Daily News reports.
There’s no word on what caused the split between J.Lo and her estranged husband, but it may have something to do with a rumored budding romance with her "I’m Into You" leading man, William Levy.
If the buzz is to be believed, then Jen’s scintillating chemistry with William has bubbled off the screen. Coincidently, HelloBeautiful.com reports that William also recently ended his eight-year marriage.
After William came home from shooting the video for "I’m Into You" with Jen, he announced his divorce from Mexican actress Elizabeth Gutiérrez. There had been rumors that William was cheating before they split up.
“I was always firmly by William’s side, despite the persistent rumors…I had no reason to doubt the strength of our union,” Elizabeth said in a statement. “I confess that this decision hasn’t been easy but I owe respect to myself as a person, woman and mother."
Meanwhile, Marc seems to be taking single life on the chin. The singer recently hit up a concert in Columbia this weekend, joking with the crowd, "They say I’m a single man."
