R.Kelly is thanking his fans for all their support following news that he’d undergone throat surgery.
“I’d like to thank everybody for their love, concern and support. I WILL BE BACK!” he tweeted.
The “Trapped in the Closet” artist, whose real name is Robert, had an abscess on his tonsils drained Wednesday, according to a representative.
“Kelly had visited a throat specialist earlier in the day complaining of severe throat pain. Following a preliminary exam, he was rushed to Northwestern Memorial for the procedure. It is not known when the multi-platinum recording star, who just completed the U.S. leg of his worldwide ‘Love Letter’ tour, will be able to resume performing,” the statement read.
The Pied Piper had been complaining about throat pain in recent weeks. Last Wednesday, he tweeted, "I refuse to take another cup of theraflu! I feel like my throat is coming back. I’ve been in bed sweating like crazy. Thanks guys!"
Robert was scheduled to perform this Friday, but he’s expected to cancel his upcoming shows to recuperate.
