Laurence Fishburne joins ‘Man of Steel’

    Laurence Fishburne is going to have to play a demanding editor in his upcoming role in Man of Steel.

    Laurence has signed on to play Perry White in the the Superman reboot, Entertainment Weekly reports. Perry runs the show as the editor-in-chief of the fictional Daily Planet newspaper, where Lois Lane and Clark Kent work.

    This casting provides some insight on how Laurence will keep busy after his exit from "CSI" after just two seasons on the crime drama.

    Laurence will be the first Black man to play the journalist in the character’s long history of iterations. In the past, Perry has been portrayed by Jackie Cooper during Christopher Reeve’s run as the Man of Steel. More recently, Frank Langella played Perry in Superman Returns, and Michael McKean took on the role for a guest spot on "Smallville."

    Man of Steel is expected to hit theaters  on June 14, 2013.
