Zoe Saldana didn’t get enough time to decompress after playing Princess Neytiri in Avatar.
If Kermit the Frog thought it ain’t easy being green, he definitely couldn’t handle being blue.
Zoe told Latina magazine that coming down from the high of working on Avatar was a rough road for her. "The year after ‘Avatar’ was just emotionally overwhelming," the actress said. "I was traveling all over the world, waking up in different time zones. Your body gets exhausted, and by the end of the year I just collapsed."
By that time Zoe had flown to Paris to start working on her upcoming film Colombiana, due out August 26, where she plays a gun-toting tough girl out for revenge. But still fresh from the world of Pandora, training for the action flick got to be too much for Zoe.
"I was sitting in my hotel room, and I couldn’t stop crying," Zoe admitted. "I couldn’t stay awake. I must have slept for an entire month." Since she was in such a fragile state, it helped that her family was on-hand to help her through the rough patch.
"It took me the rest of the year, even as I was working and shooting Colombiana, to pick myself up. Thank God my family was there," said Zoe, who now enjoys spending lots of time at home with her fiancé Keith Britton. It’s exactly what she needs.
"I just stay at home and do absolutely nothing," the actress said. "When I was younger, that would have made me feel like such a failure. Now that I’m older; I know what it means to shut down."
