Although it may seem like reality shows and romantic relationships don’t mix, Evelyn Lozada and NeNe Leakes say TV has little effect on their love lives.
Contrary to what some might assume, Evelyn said taping “Basketball Wives” has only strengthened her romance with fiancé Chad Ochocinco. They’re wedding is scheduled for 2012.
“I actually think the show’s been good for us… I love viewers being able to see our relationship,” Evelyn told theGrio.com’s Chris Witherspoon.
As a matter of fact, Evelyn said fans have suggested she and Chad go off and star in their own reality show.
“I wouldn’t be opposed,” said Evelyn, who confirmed that she would definitely do a season 4 of “Basketball Wives.”
It may be easy for Evelyn to dismiss the negative effects reality TV can have on relationships, since she and Chad seem to be doing well.
However, fans might expect a different response from NeNe Leakes of “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” NeNe seemed happily married when the series launched three seasons ago. Now, she’s in the middle of a divorce with estranged husband Gregg Leakes.
Surprisingly, NeNe doesn’t blame the show for the demise of her marriage.
“Me and Gregg had issues before we even signed on to do the ‘Housewives’ show. I think the show just helped elevate them a little bit. I couldn’t even put it on the show. I wouldn’t allow a show to break me up,” she told Sister 2 Sister.
“But the show doesn’t help,” she added.
