Stacey Dash quits ‘Single Ladies’

It’s offical: Stacey Dash won’t be returning to "Single Ladies" next season, but it’s not because she was fired.

The actress, who played the eternal romantic Val, said she quit the VH1 dramedy for her family.

“I truly enjoyed playing Val on ‘Single Ladies,’ but I have decided to leave the show," Stacey revealed in a statement released to "I have to be back in L.A. with my children right now and the ‘Single Ladies’ shooting location makes that impossible."

There are seemingly no sour grapes from Stacey’s end, as she expressed her hope that show could continue to thrive without her. "I wish VH1 the best of luck with the show and in maintaining the strong fan base we developed in season 1," she said.

VH1 had, up until now, hesitated to confirm or deny whether or not Stacey would be participating in the next season. With her statement, the network was finally allowed to exhale.

"VH1 respects Stacey’s decision and her commitment to what she feels is best for her family," a rep for the network said in a statement. "We thank her for all of her hard work in making ‘Single Ladies’ a success right out of the gate, and we wish her nothing but the best in her future plans."

This development brings up a lot of questions about how writers will handle Val’s sudden absence, but we’re sure they’ll think of something fitting. Maybe she and Jerry ran off to wed in Hawaii, where they’re now working on a family?  And what about Val’s store? Will Omar or Christina take control?

Hopefully those questions will be answered when "Single Ladies" returns for season 2.
