Sherri Shepherd criticizes ‘BBW’ again

Sherri Shepherd is not a fan of “Basketball Wives,” but “The View” co-host continues to tune in and tweet about her dislike of the show and its LA spin-off.

During Monday night’s airing of “Basketball Wives: LA” in which co-stars Malaysia Pargo and Laura Govan exchanged blows, Sherri took to Twitter, referring to the scene as “disgraceful.”

“I got physically ill watching Gloria Govan and Malaysia fighting like animals. Resolution via fighting?” she tweeted, confusing Gloria with her sister and co-star Laura.

She even pulled out the scripture. “For what does it profit a man to gain the world but lose his soul?” she quoted.

According to Sherri, her main concern is how the show affects young girls. With 1.8 million viewers its first week, there’s bound to be some teens watching.

“How do Uteach young girl 2 have respect & self-esteem, by showing her thru UR actions that you’ll pop someone in the mouth?” she asked.

Sherri also took issue with the original “Basketball Wives” series earlier this year. Executive Producer Shaunie O’Neal and Tami Roman addressed Sherri’s concerns at that time and suggested that the show would begin to offer more positive images.

Apparently, Sherri isn’t impressed with what she’s seen so far.

She’s not the only one who’s taken issue with the show, via Twitter.

Radio host and comedian Rickey Smiley addressed Tami’s apparent propensity for violence weeks ago, following the episode in which Tami punched co-star Meeka Claxton in the face.

“Did yall know that bullying is a serious problem in our schools??? And teens love that show!!,” he tweeted. “And you wonder why our young ladies in middle and high school think this is how to resolve issues, yea I made jokes as a comic. But notfunny.”

Shaunie has already pledged to offer more balanced depictions of the show’s stars—many of whom are mothers, businesswomen and philanthropists—going forward, but judging by the first two episodes of “Basketball Wives: LA,” that may be easier said than done.
