Jay-Z reveals Nets move to Brooklyn

Jay-Z has announced that his team, the New Jersey Nets, are getting ready to move.

The Nets are leaving New Jersey and setting up shop in Hov’s home borough of Brooklyn. "Good Day New York" reports that the team will unveil it’s branding and logos under the team’s new name, the Brooklyn Nets, starting in February.

The change is the first of many as the Nets’ home court at Barclay’s Center, which is still under construction, won’t be ready for another year. To be even more specific, the Barclay’s Center is slated to open on September 28, 2012, which gives Jay a good amount of lead time to plan a great welcome.

"I’m going to open the building with a concert—with couple of concerts," Hov revealed a laugh. "One or two…or eight." Jay dodged questions of whether his wife Beyoncé would be performing one of the shows to christen the new arena: "maybe…I dunno."

In the meantime, Jay is hoping to build a roster that can bring some rings home to Brooklyn. "It’s a team," he said. "We absolutely want to compete for a championship, so we’re going to be looking for the best players."

Jay-Z has also designed some of the luxury boxes in the Barclay’s Center, which will not come cheap. But he’s most "giddy" about the fact that he’s got a chance to bring something so big to his old stomping grounds. "It’s great," Jay said. "I have a reason to come to Brooklyn often, which is fantastic for me because this is my foundation."
