‘Sparkle’ remake cast fills out

The remake of Sparkle has just welcomed some spectacular new additions to the cast!

Entertainment Weekly reports that Cee-Lo Green has joined the cast of Sparkle, which is due to begin shooting next month.

The remake will star Jordin Sparks as Sparkle, while Carmen Ejogo and Tika Sumpter have signed on to play her sisters, Sister and Dolores respectively. Whitney Houston has been confirmed for the role of their mother.

To begin forming that bond, Jordin recently met up with Carmen and Tika for rehearsal. In the movie, the talented trio is modeled after the Supremes and the sisters sing Motown-era music. Cee-Lo will play the sisters’ opening act.

It has also been announced that Omari Hardwick will play one of Sister’s beaus, named Levi, while Derek Luke has been cast as Stixx. As previously reported, funnyman Mike Epps will play a comedian named Satin.

The films’ directors, Salim and Mara Brock Akil, have also brought on more star power behind the scenes, as R.Kelly will be writing original music for the remake of Sparkle.
