Sheryl Underwood’s stint as a co-host on “The Talk” may soon be over, despite the fact that the comedian has barely been sitting at the table long enough to warm her seat.
It looks like the CBS daytime show may turn into the ‘Julie, Sara and Sharon show,’ according to the National Enquirer.
Making its television debut in October 2010, the original hosts were creator and executive producer Sara Gilbert, Julie Chen, Sharon Osbourne, actresses Leah Remini, Holly Robinson Peete and Marissa Jaret. Marissa was dismissed from the show in January. As of late, the contracts for Holly and Leah were not renewed either.
Now, Sheryl’s spot on the show is being questioned. A source told the Enquirer what Julie really thinks. “Julie believes they made a mistake by adding Sheryl to the panel. She thinks Sheryl’s comedy is too crude for daytime TV. Julie doesn’t mince words—she says Sheryl’s vulgar style isn’t a good fit.”
Although Sara, best known for her role on the sitcom “Roseanne,” is credited as the show’s creator, Julie is rumored to have more than a little influence over who serves as her co-hosts. The “Big Brother” celebrity is married to CBS President Leslie Moonves.
“Julie didn’t like Holly and Leah, and now she’s made it obvious that she’s not happy with Sheryl and Molly…” the source told the Enquirer.
Some viewers are questioning why Julie and Sara are “punishing the audience.” Regardless of if it is a punishment or a simple process of trial and error, these changes will likely push ratings to either end of the spectrum— with fans either watching more intently to see what concoction of hosts producers come up with next, or not watching at all.
The latter option is what a lot of Sister 2 Sister readers have chosen since Holly and Leah were dismissed.
S2Smagazine.com user Lovynlife commented, “I am sadden[ed] that Holly will not be returning. I felt she was a very good host and she often held it down while Julie was doing ‘Big Brother’. I don’t think I’ll be too anxious to watch the show now. ‘The Talk’, why did you mess up a good thing?”
CBS should choose wisely.
