Kelly Rowland talks life choices

Kelly Rowland is talking about some of the biggest decisions she’s ever made, including breaking off her engagement.

Kelly got very candid and honest during her recent interview with UK Cosmopolitan, talking about everything from her runaway-bride status to her relationship with her father.

When Kelly called off her wedding to NFL player Roy Williams, Destiny’s Child fans were floored, but ultimately the "Motivation" singer felt that marrying Roy would have been the wrong move at that time in her life.

"I was too young for marriage. I remember my sister B [Beyoncé] asked me one question: She said, ‘Well, you know what you want now, don’t you?’ and I was like ‘Yes.’" Kelly recalled, adding that the public scrutiny made it even harder for her to breakup with her former fiancé. "It was so hard and embarrassing because everyone knew. I’d posed for the front cover of a magazine in my wedding dress and it was on sale! But sometimes you fall down and you learn from it."

Kelly took a little longer to think about making a major change to her body when she got breast implants. The siren said it wasn’t an overnight decision, but rather something that had been on her mind for a very long time.

"I said in an interview a long time ago that I’d get it done because I just had little nuggets for boobs and it was bothering me," Kelly said. "The decision was 10 years in the making so I’m comfortable talking about it. It’s something I really wanted to do for myself—not for a man, not for work, for myself…and I love them."

Kelly also spoke out about her long-lost father’s recent efforts to reconnect with her. After nearly two decades apart, the singer is eager to get reacquainted with her dad, but she wishes that he’d reached out to her in a more private way.

"He reached out to me saying he wanted to see me, but it’s unfortunate he did it so publicly. I want to meet him, and soon. I really do," Kelly said. "I forgave him a long time ago. I haven’t seen my dad for almost 20 years. It’s nothing I want a pity party for. He left me and my mum, and I was angry."

She continued, "I wanted to be a daddy’s girl so bad. God damn ‘The Cosby Show’ because that made me think, ‘Why aren’t my family like that?’ But this is not a perfect world."
