    Jaleel White cursed by Urkel?

Jaleel White, who’s best known for his role as Steve Urkel on the sitcom “Family Matters,” wants Hollywood to know he’s a serious actor.

“I’m very versatile, but somehow I didn’t earn the tag of being called a versatile actor,” Jaleel told People magazine. “It’s like, what do I have to do to get that [credit]?” he asked.

Jaleel has had other roles, including recent appearances in “Psych,” “Love That Girl” and “Are We There Yet?”

His next project is as host of the new Syfy game show “Total Blackout.”

It seems that will be a welcome change for Jaleel.

"I don’t [miss playing Urkel]," he said. "I really don’t. I’m not trying to get away from it or anything like that, but I don’t miss the role at all—really. I just want to work. I want my daughter to say, ‘I know what Daddy does,’ not what Daddy ‘did.’"
