Michelle Obama offers style advice

You may not have Michelle Obama’s sense of style flair for fashion, but that doesn’t mean you can’t benefit from her rules for staying fashion forward!

You may not have Michelle Obama’s sense of style flair for fashion, but that doesn’t mean you can’t benefit from her rules for staying fashion forward!

“I have to wear what I love,” she told reporters gathered at the White House on Monday, People.com reports. “I have to feel good in it. My day-to-day wardrobe choices are very practical. I’m like, ‘What’s the temperature?’ ‘Am I going to be sitting in the grass?’ ‘Will I be playing with kids?’ ‘Can I sit on the floor?’”

Her main concern is the length of her shirt because she doesn’t want to unknowingly leave herself exposed. “If I bend over [I'm] worrying about that … embarrassing shot,” she explained. Michelle also worries about her shirts bunching up.

Michelle isn’t hung up on labels, and she frequents shops such as Gap, H&M and Target for economical ensembles that put most of our notions about brand names to shame. That isn’t to say she shuns designer duds completely, though. If the first lady likes it, she’s bringing it home.

“It’s like my music,” Michelle said. “Everything in my closet is something that I love, so that I can make choices based on what makes sense, knowing that I’m going to love whatever it is. I think that tends to be my philosophy.”

No matter what she wears, the first lady always wears fashion that flatters. But since she mentioned music, who does she listen to while working out? Find out when you play the video below.
