Eddie Murphy not ‘Delirious’ over Oscars

Although it’s one of the most prestigious gigs a comedian can book, Eddie Murphy said he’s not nervous about hosting the 2012 Academy Awards.

"I’m kinda looking forward to it ’cause I haven’t done it, but I’m not nervous. I might get a little excitement in your stomach before you go out… but I’m not nervous at all," said the actor, whose new movie, Tower Heist, hits theaters November 4.

Although some Eddie fans are hoping he revisits some of his most memorable characters while he serves as host of the awards show, he said he won’t be wearing that red leather suit from his standup film Delirious.

Eddie told “Access Hollywood” that the infamous red ensemble was ruined by actor Keenen Ivory Wayans, who wore it out to a nightclub as a joke back in the late ‘80s.

“He ripped the suit apart. That suit is gone,” Eddie assured.

However, if his costumes from the movie Coming to America are still in his closet, Niecy Nash is at least one fan hoping Eddie will resurrect the film’s characters, especially fictional singer Sexual Chocolate.
