Heavy D’s family is shocked by his sudden passing as his loved one said he was in tip-top shape before he died.
Autopsy results for the rapper proved inconclusive, and it could take weeks before a toxicology test might be able to determine what killed Heavy D.
The late 44 year-old rapper’s brother Floyd Meyers recently told MTV News that, “Heavy was in great shape.” Floyd said he had talked to his brother the day prior to him passing and that he seemed fine.
“Heav was in good shape, healthy, no heart problems. He constantly made sure that his health was in check,” Floyd explained.
The Los Angeles Times report revealed that coroners intend to do toxicology tests, which are used to determine a sudden death of a young, reasonably healthy person, on Heavy D to come up with more defined results. Results could take up to six weeks to uncover an answer.
Heavy D had recently done shows at the BET Awards and the Michael Forever tribute concert in Wales.
Heavy D will be remembered for his trend-setting flow as well as his positive and kind spirit that he shared with everyone he came in contact with. His family has started the Heavy D and Xea Myers Fund, in remembrance of his legacy and in support of his daughter Xea.
The rapper’s friends, family, fans and colleagues are paying their last respects to Heavy D as he is laid to rest today.
