Kim Kardashian is battling reports that her recent trip to Haiti was just for show.
The often-embattled reality star posted a blog on her website titled, “My Trip to Haiti: In My Own Words”, to clear up negative reports from magazines, such as The National Enquirer.
The National Enquirer reported that Kim and her mother, Kris Jenner, went to Haiti in expensive clothes, stayed in a thousand–dollar suite, and ripped the runway during a fashion show. The Enquirer slammed Kim in the article stating, “her plan backfired as irate locals blasted her as a ‘phony’ and told her: ‘Go back home, Kim!’"
These accusations are false, according to Kim K. She let her fans know on her website, “Our mission was to learn more about Maria’s [Bello actress from television hit “Prime Suspect”] charity, We Advance, meet the Haitian people who have made such amazing progress since the devastating earthquake in 2010, and celebrate the women of Haiti, who inspired me more than I ever could have anticipated.”
As far as Kim’s love for fashion goes, she did explain that she bought jewelry in Haiti. "The truth is that I was at the Haitian Artisan Fair, where the amazing men and women who make their jewelry and crafts sell them to visitors to make a living.”
The Enquirer also went on to report that Oprah Winfrey is mad with Kim Kardashian’s trip to Haiti, however, Kim Kardashian retweeted Oprah earlier this month with this tweet “Seeing the tents they STILL live in is devastating!Every1 can help RT @Oprah: 500k Haitians still homeless!Like the earthquake happened yest.”
Kim is outraged by the media because she was taken aback by the criticism she received, but she enjoyed her experience in Haiti. She wrote, “The journalists obviously didn’t bother to do their research and instead published a ridiculous story to sell copies. I have ignored all of this until now.” Kim K’s image has been anything but glorious as of late because of her quick marriage. Do you feel this trip was to bring her image back in a positive light, or is she truly just another celebrity trying to help these innocent victims struck by the 2010 earthquake?
