Vanessa Bryant, soon-to-be ex-wife of Kobe Bryant, just scored a game-winning shot worth $75 million.
A divorce property settlement rewarded Vanessa this huge lump sum, totaling half of Kobe’s approximate assets, $150 million.
“It turns out, based on the property settlement, Vanessa scored a clean sweep, snagging all three of the former couple’s mansions in the Newport Beach area," TMZ reported.
Vanessa filed for divorce from the Los Angeles Laker in 2011, siting “irreconcilable differences.” There are also reports that she is seeking joint custody of their two young daughters, Natalia and Gianna, with Kobe having visitation rights.
The couple’s 10-year marriage had battled through tough times, including Kobe’s much-publicized sexual assault case in 2003. But Vanessa hung in there through the trial and the controversy, and now, eight years and one huge diamond "apology" ring later, it seems as though the ex-Mrs. Bryant is truly the one winning with an extra $75 mil in the bank.
As for Kobe, hopefully the fact that he’s still got about 50 more basketball games to play in the 2011-2012 regular season will keep him too busy to miss the millions. Plus, with endorsements and the possibility of another championship, we’re sure he’ll be stacking the cash again soon. But will he miss the mother of his children?
Here’s another thought: Although she clearly doesn’t need the cash, could Vanessa’s next calling is an appearance on Vh1’s hit show “Basketball Wives”? She is a soon-to-be ex now, after all. What do you think?
