Oprah’s not ‘the marrying kind’

After 26 years of being with partner Stedman Graham, Oprah Winfrey still has a ringless finger, and she wants to keep it that way.
While attending the Jaipur Literature Festival in Jaipur, India, where she is filming “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” Oprah told the audience that if she had married longtime beau Stedman Graham, their relationship would not have lasted.

"I think that had we gotten married we probably would have been divorced by now. And he would agree," explained Oprah. “I really am my own woman and I don’t really conform very well to other people ideas about who and what I should be and being married calls for some conformity.”

Winfrey told the crowd that if she were to be married she thinks Stedman would be a wonderful man to do that with, but she isn’t the marrying kind.

During the shooting of "Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes," Stedman said he wants Oprah to succeed and be as successful as she can.
“I encourage that, that’s not always easy to do when you’re a man in a relationship with a very powerful women,” Stedman said, “I’m not threatened by her fame or her success or her money or all that, that’s who she is. It doesn’t have anything to do with how I define myself.”
