Royce Reed previews ‘BBW’ 4 drama

Royce Reed said she’s trying to stay out of the drama on season 4 of “Basketball Wives,” but she’s already hinting at continued tension between her and at least one cast member.

“I don’t film with her. We don’t like each other. I don’t know what her issue is with me. … She was making up lies about me that wasn’t true,” Royce told 365voice.com in reference to “BWW” producer Shaunie O’Neal.

While there’s tension between the two, Royce said it’s not because she feels like Shaunie behaves like the evil puppetmaster over the cast. Royce denies that her actions are influenced by the cameras.

“She doesn’t pimp me, and I’m pretty sure y’all see she doesn’t pimp me. My thing is, she does not own the show,” she said. “She doesn’t make me do anything, say anything … Yeah, it brings in a check, but I refuse to sell my soul for a check.”

Admitting that she acts of her own volition, Royce takes responsibility for the past fights and arguments that she’s been a part of since season 1. However, she suggests that what viewers see on “Basketball Wives” is real life, just magnified.

“Everybody makes mistakes, it’s just ours is in front of the world,” said Royce, who plans to stay out of confrontations this year.

“Sorry to bust your bubble, but I’m not really in a lot of the drama,” she said.

So far, Royce has nothing negative to say about the newcomers to the show, who seem to already be in a better position than last season’s new cast member, Meeka Claxton.

“[Meeka] wanted to be cool with certain people that did not want to be cool with her and she pretty much got stabbed in the back like 10, 20, 30 times. I tried to tell her. Tami [Roman] tried to tell her, and it was like in one ear and like the other. You see where she is now … I don’t have an issue with Meeka at all. We’ve actually talked. She’s apologized,” said Royce, who Meeka admitted she prejudged before she even met the season 3 cast.

While Royce is somewhat outside of the “circle” on the show, she’s not worried about being friends with Shaunie or Evelyn Lozada, the "Queen Bee" who Royce nearly fought in season 3.

“I’m really out there just trying to do my own thing career-wise,” said the mom and author. “I have a career outside of on this show.”
