Sanaa Lathan is apologizing for comments she made suggesting that the NBA’s Kobe Bryant doesn’t like Black women.
“I probably shouldn’t have said that because I don’t discriminate when it comes to dating. I have dated all races and I believe you should be free to do whatever you want,” Sanaa told Ebony.
When rumors began to fly that Sanaa had her romantic sights set on Kobe, the actress took to Twitter to defend herself. According to Sanaa, she wasn’t interested in Kobe and had nothing to do with the athlete’s breakup with wife Vanessa.
However, she took things one step further when she implied that Kobe wouldn’t be interested in her anyway, since she’s Black, and he doesn’t seem to be attracted to Black women.
“Anybody who pays attention knows I’m not his type… Blank stare,” she tweeted in December when she was accused of shamelessly flirting with Kobe at a Watch the Throne concert.
Now that she’s had time to cool off, Sanaa said she wishes she hadn’t responded that way, especially since she’s dated men of all ethnicities.
“I was so annoyed because I was having such a great time at the concert and Kobe happened to be standing next to me, and then all of a sudden I was tied to his break-up. That’s absurd, and I tweeted that in the moment, and I regret it,” she said.
