Tyga and other young artists hit the stage last night on the latest stop of his Careless World tour.
The DMV gathered at The Fillmore in Silver Spring, Maryland, on Monday night to jam to the tunes of Tyga, YG and Lil Twist. The crowd, mostly made up of young hip-hop heads, was filled with the nervous buzz of anticipation as they awaited the start of the show.
Lil Twist hit the stage first, with his very unique retro’d hairstyle. The 16-year-old rapper, with the rhymes of men twice his age, got the crowd moving with his high energy and thumping bass-backed songs.
Pushaz Ink/Def Jam artist YG, who hit mainstream success with his single “Toot it and Boot it,” featuring 50 Cent and Snoop, hit the stage next and kept the energy level high. Audience members knew every word of every song, and didn’t hesitate to sing at the top of their lungs with hands waving high in the air. Guys grabbed the nearest girl and got to dancing, and when they weren’t singing, they were cheering for more.
If the energy was high before, when headliner Tyga hit the stage, the crowd went wild. The love for the YMCM artist was evident as girls and guys rapped along. And when Tyga decided to go shirtless, screams of, “Oh my god, he’s so sexy!” could be clearly heard throughout the Fillmore.
Tyga brought out a surprise guest in the form of Honey Cocaine, who performed a song with him called “Heisman.” Honey, an Asian FeMC who is signed to Tyga’s Last Kings label, has caught some flack regarding her use of the N-word in her music. Looking at this sweet-faced rapper, you would never guess she has a mixtape called F*ck Your Feelings, or that she’d come as hard as she did onstage.
Ending the night shirtless and sweaty, it’s clear that the fans mean as much to Tyga as he does to them. He put it all out there on The Fillmore stage and his audience loved every moment of it.
