‘Think’ changed LaLa Anthony’s thinking

Since reading Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man and working on the film adaptation, LaLa Anthony said she’s learned to be a little less emotional.

“Women tend to be very emotional. So, I try to take a little of the emotion out and just think with a clear head and not let the emotions get in the way,” LaLa told VH1’s “Big Morning Buzz.”

While few women want to alter their thinking to completely mimic that of men, LaLa said it’s more about understanding what makes men tick.

“I think there are certain ways to think like a man as far as understand what motivates them is different than what motivates us,” she told Celebrityitis TV.

In the film, hitting theaters next month, LaLa plays Sonia, a woman who isn’t so quick to believe the advice offered in the Think Like a Man book.

“My character in the movie is a pessimist. She’s the one who’s not buying into the whole book and using this book in your relationship,” said LaLa, whose character is the best friend of Mya, played by Meagan Good.

“The movie’s great. The book was incredible,” she said. “To see it now translated to film is awesome and to be in the film is even better.”

In real life, LaLa, who’s been married to the NBA’s Carmelo Anthony for almost two years, said women who are looking for relationships should be sure to live their own lives first.

“It’s always great to have your own thing going on, even if it’s not a full-fledged career, whether it’s a hobby or something. I think men appreciate a woman who does something and has something going on,” she told maximotv.com.

In addition to her film role, LaLa was currently on Broadway. Plus, she has a makeup line and reality series.

Despite her busy schedule, she does try to find time to relax.

“When I’m in town, of course I wanna go support my husband and be there to support the team. Games are fun. You get to just cheer and drink and let loose,” she said.

Watch LaLa talk “TRL” on VH1.
