Jaleel White decided to break his silence and spoke out recently to deny abuse allegations ledged by his babymama.
“When you’re doing well in life, it’s par for the course certain individuals will try and knock you down,” he told People magazine.
“When the individual is also the mother of your child, it is particularly hurtful,” said the “Dancing with the Stars” contestant. “I’m assuming I have not received her votes these past Monday nights.”
Jaleel and his accuser, Bridget Hardy, are co-parenting their 2-year-old daughter, but Bridget claims that Jaleel tried to bribe her with money in order to gain sole custody.
That’s not all. Bridget also accused Jaleel of verbal and physical abuse. A 2010 incident in which one of her breast implants ruptured, allegedly after Jaleel pushed her, doesn’t help matters. However, Jaleel was cleared of the charges.
The actor, who has been pretty much out of the public eye since his years-long stint on “Family Matters,” questioned why his ex is resurrecting her accusations now.
“The allegations made against me back in 2010 have suspiciously resurfaced in time to coincide with my new show on Syfy and “Dancing with the Stars,” he said. “I guess my most recent successes have been too much for her to stomach.”
Although he implied that he wouldn’t mind sharing some details of their tumultuous relationship, Jaleel opted to take the high road instead.
“My only hope is that when my daughter Googles her parents one day in her future, she sees that her father acted with class and dignity when pressed to the fire,” he said.
