Shaunie O’Neal tired of ‘BBW’ BFF beef

Juggling her friendships with estranged BFFs Evelyn Lozada and Jennifer Williams is a bit taxing for “Basketball Wives” executive producer Shaunie O’Neal.

“It’s really difficult because it draws all these lines, and it’s just tension in the room and things that you think are just so simple, just to go eat or hang out or whatever, you gotta think it out. You gotta figure out who’s coming, who’s not,” Shaunie told Vibe.

Fans saw firsthand how difficult it can be for Shaunie this season as she and co-star Tami Roman tried to moderate an intervention for the two former friends. That didn’t go so well. Then, at Shaunie’s birthday dinner, Evelyn and Jenn nearly came to blows with Evelyn ultimately bopping Jenn on the head with her clutch purse.

While she attempted to help the ladies resolve their issues when they first started to drift apart, Shaunie said she’s tiring of putting forth that effort. "I’m kinda over it and don’t care anymore," she admitted.

However, she can’t deny that the beef between the former BFFs has had an impact.

“The Evelyn and Jenn situation has affected pretty much the whole cast, especially the core ladies who’ve been there, and we’re friends with both of them,” she said. “It’s really complicated for people that aren’t apart of their beef. I think Jenn, she tends to think we side with one or the other, when that’s not the case. I’m too old to be siding with two grown women who have their own beef going on.”

Although she hasn’t picked sides, Shaunie has been filming more with Evelyn than Jennifer who seems to spend most of her on-camera time with Suzie Ketcham and newcomer Kenya Bell.

Shaunie, who’s introduced a new cast member to her show each season so far, said there’s a reason she brings on fresh meat.

“Bringing in the new girls really has been interesting. Every season is like drama,” she said.

Although she seems to have hit upon a winning formula with “Basketball Wives,” which now has two spin-off series: “Basketball Wives: LA” and “Ev and Ocho,” Shaunie said the success of the series was a surprise.

“I never thought that it would be a phenomenon. I knew we had a good show. I just banked on having a good show,” she said. “Did I think we’d be four seasons in? No.”
