Sherri Shepherd sticks up for Jaleel White

Sherri Shepherd is cutting Jaleel White a little slack after a very trying week.

Between allegations of abuse and reports of a blowup during rehearsal, the "Family Matters" star has not had the most flattering press lately.

Things didn’t get any better after he began crying after his routine on Monday night either. Sherri told People.com that viewers should keep in mind how much these performances mean to contestants, though.

"These dances were emotional for everyone," said Sherri, who pointed out that the stars had less time to practice this week. "Everybody wants to do well. We all want to be here."
