The sisters of Mary Mary sing about salvation and forgiveness and that extends to men, like Chris Brown, who’ve been accused of abusing women.
“If people have gone that route and have learned from that mistake and have repented to each other and have repented to the world, I think that people deserve to have another chance,” Tina Campbell recently told S2S Publisher Jamie Foster Brown.
Tina, who comprises half of the gospel duo Mary Mary with her sister Erica Campbell, thinks Chris and Rihanna fans need to stay out of the former couple’s relationship.
“Let them people be in love if that’s what they want to do. You cannot be directing everybody’s comings and goings, and now they gotta decide, ‘Well, what is this gonna say to the media?’” she said. “If they forgave each other, let them forgive each other.”
Although they endured a very public breakup following Chris’ ’07 assault on Rihanna, the two have apparently mended fences and have even worked on new music together this year.
While Tina seems to support the two moving on and becoming friends, she isn’t condoning abuse.
“I think both parties should respect each other. I don’t think hands should go on nobody. It’s not okay if it’s a man. It’s not okay if it’s a woman,” she said.
