After Beyoncé posted an admiring handwritten open letter to Michelle Obama, the First Lady responded on Twitter.
Last week, Beyoncé thanked Michelle for being the “ULTIMATE example of a truly strong African-American woman.”
Michelle responded on Twitter on Friday.
“@Beyonce Thank you for the beautiful letter and for being a role model who kids everywhere can look up to,” wrote Michelle.
Beyoncé isn’t a stranger to the Obamas, with her performing “At Last” during President Barack Obama’s inauguration ball. Beyoncé has also teamed up with the First Lady for her “Let’s Move!” campaign that tackles childhood obesity. She lent her song “Get Me Bodied” for Michelle’s national “Let’s Move Flash Workout” and even showed up at Harlem public school to dance along.
Michelle has previously said that Beyoncé is on her iPod.
“I always love Beyoncé, so anything that’s fast-paced that she’s doing is a good one for me,” Michelle said during a Q&A in 2011.
President Obama is also a fan of Beyoncé’s husband Jay-Z. After being asked whom does he prefer over Kanye West and Jay-Z, he simply smiled and responded “Jay-Z.”
Beyoncé’s website includes photographs of President Obama, Michelle, Sasha and Malia, with the message “Bey-Inspired.”
