‘Dancing With the Stars’ recap: 4.17.12

Couple: Jaleel White & Kym Johnson
    Dance:  Samba

Jaleel set the ballroom on fire Monday night! No, seriously, part of his set was a bonfire, which was the background for his tribal-themed samba.

The actor certainly brought the right attitude to the routine, and you could tell that he connected with this routine in a way that we haven’t seen from him before.

Couple: Roshon Fegan & Chelsie Hightower
    Dance: Salsa

Yet again, Roshon attacked this routine with incredible precision and a little swag. The salsa is supposed to be sexy, but there is nothing inherently sexy about Roshon. He’s got personality, yes. Sexy? Not so much.

What Roshon does have is charisma and he used that swag to enhance his moves. He needs to work on his shimmy.

Couple: Donald Driver & Peta Murgatroyd
    Dance: Argentine Tango

Donald Driver came to win this week! His Argentine tango had lots of fire and control. And Peta trusts the NFL player enough to pull off tricks that might make most professionals shake in their dancing shoes.

Every week he gets so deep into character, and that did not change this week! He became this super-suave card player that is just naturally smooth.

Couple: Gladys Knight & Tristan MacManus
    Dance: Samba

One thing we can say about Gladys is that she has fun on the dance floor. Rehearsals this week were a little tough for Gladys, who had to take her show on the road. Between concerts in different cities there were a few late-night practices.

Gladys, as always, was a joy to watch. Even if she didn’t have the usual snap and sizzle that we like to see in the samba, she turned out a great performance. Some spots in the routine were a little clunky, but the steps she had down were sharp.

We would have liked to see her do the Argentine tango a little more than the samba, but she held her own with this routine.
