Kesha Nichols finds ‘Basketball Wives’ scary

Kesha Nichols might be the butt of jokes for fleeing when trouble comes her way on “Basketball Wives,” but she said what fans see on TV is even scarier in real life.

“It’s even worse in person. Watching Tami [Roman] cuss someone out on TV is one thing. For her to look at me with hate in her eyes and have it directed toward me is scary,” said Kesha.

“I’ve never really experienced that type of craziness in my life,” she told Sister 2 Sister.

Kesha successfully avoided a physical confrontation of her own when she argued with co-star Kenya Bell. While some joked that Kesha should have her own line of Nikes, since she runs away so fast, she considers it wise to avoid the fisticuffs.

“I am not fighting these women. It’s not worth it for me. I would remove myself from the situation,” said Kesha, who would defend herself if forced. Unlike her co-star Jennifer Williams, who stayed seated when confronted by an angry woman who subsequently slapped Jennifer in the face, Kesha said she’s learned how to move.

The dancer was just feet away from Evelyn Lozada when she grabbed a wine bottle and tossed it at Kenya Bell, and Kesha was close by when Nia Crooks got up, sauntered over and struck Jennifer in the face.

“I was saying, ‘Get up.’ I asked her, ‘Why didn’t you get up?’” said Kesha, who managed to get out of the way when things got physical. “I had time to get up. She got up and walked all around the table. Evelyn took off her earrings and shoes. I know the warning signs.”

When asked if she was getting up to help prevent an altercation, she clarified. “Tami’s good at jumping in and helping prevent fights. I just don’t want to be in the middle of it,” said Kesha, who added that all the women on the show, with the exception of her and Royce Reed, are very tall.

While Kesha said being a part of the show was more than she bargained for, she hasn’t ruled out returning, if she’s invited back for another season.

“I didn’t know what to expect coming into it, but it’s everything that I didn’t even know existed, and it’s the most interesting thing that I’ve ever been part of,” she said.

Is Kesha ashamed of the Black side of her family? She discusses it in the July 2012 issue of Sister 2 Sister.
