Aside from her ring, Meagan Good kept it casual during the Los Angeles Lakers this weekend.
While the public is used to seeing Meagan glammed up, she went au naturale for their outing. As it turns out, her engagement ring was the only dazzling accessory she really needed anyway.
Although she tried to hide it at first, cameras eventually caught a glimpse of the rock her fiancé DeVon Franklin put on her hand.
Meagan recently told Global Grind that once she started walking with the Lord that she knew DeVon was the man for her. "I was crying about so much at the time that God told me exactly what it was going to be and He told me that the next relationship that I got into was going to be “the” relationship," Meagan recalled. "God told me specifically what the criteria was with the man I was going to marry and He told me to not settle."
From then on, Meagan was a lot pickier about who she got seriously involved with. Even if she liked a guy, she would stop seeing him if she didn’t feel that the connection with her and God was on point. "I would meet guys who are Christians or loved the Lord, but they weren’t trying with all their heart to walk with him," the actress recalled. "And I wouldn’t feel in myself that that was the guy, so even if I liked him or was attracted to him I would say, ‘OK I’m not going to settle.’”
After so much dating around, Meagan took even more drastic measures and decided to close up her cookie jar until she got with the man she was going to marry. The funny thing is, he’d been right under her nose for years!
“Shortly after that I became celibate. I said, ‘Alright, Lord. Let’s see what you have for me," Meagan said. "Oddly enough, DeVon and I had known each other for six years and [Jumping the Broom] wrapped nine months before we even dated. During a couple of those months before, it started getting in my spirit that he was going to be my husband and he didn’t even know.”
Meagan was even bold enough to tell her family that she knew DeVon was the man she’d spend the rest of her life with. She shared the revelation with her godsister while they were still friends. "I already told my godsister in the car on the way over there. Oh, he’s my husband; I know that. And we didn’t start dating ’til three months after that," said Meagan.
But when the big moment came for DeVon to pop the question, the actress had something of an out-of-body experience. In fact, she doesn’t even remember a good chunk of his proposal.
"Once I realized what was going on, my whole brain just shut down. It just went into complete shock," Meagan remembers. "I heard half of what he was saying but there was a whole portion of it that was like a black hole of shock and emotion. ‘Wow, this is really happening right now.’"
When she came to, Meagan had a nice piece of jewelry to remember the moment by. Get a closer look at her ring below!
