Serena Williams to take 10-year dating hiatus

Serena Williams is tired of love games, and the tennis pro is ready for a time-out.

“I have given up on dating. It just hasn’t worked out well for me,” she told

Serena has been linked with rappers Drake and Common and film director Brett Ratner, to name a few, but she hasn’t found “the one.” Like many who’ve experienced a broken heart, Serena admitted the last breakup was a tough one.

“The last relationship just was too much of a heartbreak for me. I just can’t go through that anymore. It was hard,” she said, not specifying exactly to whom she was referring.

While it’s been said that it’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all, Serena might not agree. It seems the tennis pro wants to completely forget about love—and not just for a year or so—she’s hoping for a 10-year hiatus from love.

“I just have to remove myself from that atmosphere for about the next decade or so. I can’t get involved,” said the 27-year-old. “I’m a really emotional person. I give my all and everything. I do make mistakes.”

While Serena wasn’t specific about who broke her heart, rapper Common has made it clear that he still has feelings for Serena. The two dated on-and-off for three years.

Earlier this year, Serena told Sister 2 Sister, Common is "a great guy. He’s cool. I have nothing bad to say about him. He has always been cool by me."
