Cleo King teases ‘Mike & Molly’ twist

With season 3 of the CBS hit show “Mike and Molly” filming, fans are wondering what’s in store for the comedic cast, especially the beloved character Grandma, played by Cleo King.

S2S recently talked to Cleo, who hinted that Grandma—or Nana as co-star Reno Wilson calls her—may have something up her sleeve. Besides stirring the pot with brother Heywood (played by “Family Matters” alum Reginald Vel Johnson) we may find out that Nana has a past in music that goes beyond just singing in the choir.

“Nana has some gold records on her living room wall, so we might be seeing where those came from,” Cleo said.
And as for Mike and Molly’s hilarious relationship, she didn’t disclose too much, but she did hint that fans would be “seeing some really great stuff.”
Outside of Nana, Cleo has some other exciting projects underway. She’s been writing some scripts herself and hopes that one in particular will make it to the big screen.

“I adore Aretha Franklin; her life is just gorgeous,” she told S2S. “I hope that I can blend these two worlds into a movie and maybe I can play the adult Aretha Franklin.”

In June, catch Cleo in the comedy, Demoted, from the director of the American Pie series.

How did she respond when critics told her she wouldn’t succeed in Hollywood? Cleo shares her triumph in the June 2012 issue of Sister 2 Sister.
