MSNBC anchor Tamron Hall shut down a conservative columnist who tried to go off topic.
Tamron put columnist Tim Carney in check during his recent appearance on "News Nation" to discuss how presidential candidate Mitt Romney has handled allegations that he bulied gay classmates in high school.
Instead of sticking to the subject at hand, Tim tried to flip the script on Tamron, whom he accused of pulling a "typical media trick" in coverage of the story.
“You hype up a story and then you justify the second day coverage of the story by saying, “Oh, people are talking about it. Here’s how Romney responded to it,” Tim said. “You are bringing up a meta story, which is ‘what is Romney’s response to this other non-story.’ I’m trying to go meta meta on you and say here’s some media treatment of the Romney response.”
Tamron quickly jumped in and defended her network and the production staff. "You’re kind of in my house," she said before reminding him that he was made very aware of the topic he was asked to comment on.
“You don’t want me to go anything on you because you’re actually irritating me right now. I’m going to be honest with you,” Tamron asserted. "You knew the topics we were going to discuss."
Clearly taken aback, Tim sputtered in disbelief that he was being cut-off and that an anchor would tell what she would and would not allow on her show.
“If you’re not comfortable [with talking about the Romney story], I am A-okay but you’re not going to come on and insult me," Tamron said. You not going to come on and insult me. You’re not going to come on and insult the network when you knew what you were going to talk about. Done."
