D.B. Woodside is glad Stacey Dash left ‘Single Ladies’

D.B. Woodside is not ashamed to admit that he was happy to see Stacey Dash leave "Single Ladies."

Some fans of the show might still be adjusting to Stacey’s abrupt exit from the VH1 series, but D.B. told radio personality Egypt Sherrod that it was a much-needed change.

"Last year was very difficult at times to go to set with all that tension that was going on with Stacey. So I wish her well. I’m sure she’s off doing something else," he said.

When asked if Stacey was really all that bad to work with, D.B. implied that it wasn’t exactly a walk in the park to work with the Clueless star.

"Yes, she was. I don’t want to cause any trouble, but I, for one, am happy she’s gone. It’s a much better place to be. It’s a much better set," he said bluntly. "I’m just going to keep it straight. I’m just going to keep it real. I am happy that she’s not there anymore."

In fact, D.B. was so glad to see her go that he had to raise a toast. "When I first heard that Stacey was leaving, I went out and celebrated and had some drinks," said the actor, who revealed that he wasn’t terribly concerned that his show would be canceled.

D.B., who plays Malcolm Franks on "Single Ladies," also had a few thoughts on Stacey’s fight with his leading lady LisaRaye McCoy. Too bad for the public that he’s keeping those opinions to himself.

"All I’ll say is this – is that LisaRaye is my girl. I love LisaRaye," he said. "LisaRaye and I have always had a blast on the show; and all I’ll say is I’m Team LisaRaye."

With Stacey out as Val, VH1 quickly replaced her with Denise Vasi, who plays Raquel Lancaster. He thinks that she’s done a wonderful job of filling in the gap that Val left when she ran off to Milan, but he knows it might take the audience a minute to warm up to her.

"You know, I think for some people…for some of the fans…it’s going to take a minute to get used to the fact that we had to make that switch," said D.B. "We love Denise! She’s fantastic; she’s talented; she’s gorgeous. She’s one of the nicest people that I’ve ever met in my life, and we just love her so."
