Jessica Jarrell wants girls to live their dreams

Island Def Jam recording artist Jessica Jarrell has teamed up with The Dove Movement for Self-Esteem to support young girls in reaching their full potential.

She joined four other extraordinary women also recognized by Dove for their positive impact on young girls lives at “Girl Scouts Rock the Mall” in Washington, DC.

Jessica discovered her voice when she was 11 and auditioned for a Christmas play and has fell in love with singing ever since. “This is what I want and this is my dream.”

Her first concert was for President Barack Obama at the White House Easter Egg Hunt in 2009 and she toured and collaborated with Justin Bieber, Cody Simpson, and released a single with Ne-Yo.

She has also been the face of Pastry, an urban shoe line by Angela and Vanessa Simmons. “It’s been going great! They grow so much and it’s cool to watch that and be a part of that,” Jessica told S2S.

Jessica even filled us in about dating rumors between her and Diggy Simmons and assures us they are just best friends as they have been for several years.

The future is looking bright for Jessica. She released her EP Glow in March. “The EP is like a transition. I’m really happy with it,” Jessica told S2S. She also plans on incorporating some acting in her career. “I want to grow and improve in the best way I can,” she said.

Jessica began her career by overcoming her shyness and advises young women “you can’t let those things stop you from doing what you want to do, “ she said.
