Michael Clarke Duncan remains on a respirator in the intensive care unit of a Los Angeles hospital after going into cardiac arrest early Friday morning.
According to TMZ.com, the Green Mile actor has remained sedated since he arrived at the ICU, but he’s showing steady signs of improvement. A source said Michael is now “breathing above the respirator,” meaning he’s regaining strength.
Doctors told TMZ.com they’ve performed tests on Monday and are optimistic on Michael’s recovery after determining he has a “very strong heartbeat.” Doctors do not have any immediate plans to remove Michael from the respirator and they are still unsure how his condition will progress.
Paramedics rushed Michael from his home in Woodland Hills, California to a nearby hospital around 2 a.m. Friday. His girlfriend, reality TV star Omarosa Manigault, performed CPR until medics arrived.
The New York Daily News reports that fire officials won’t confirm if Omarosa actually saved Michael’s life, but it did take paramedics more than 40 minutes to arrive.
