Jennifer Williams drops ‘BBW’ slap lawsuit

It seems Jennifer Williams may have had a change of heart and decided not to go through with her lawsuit against Nia Crooks.

Jennifer pressed charges against Nia back in April following the airing of a season 4 episode of “Basketball Wives” in which Nia slapped her in the face.

Although Jennifer mended fences with Nia’s boss, Jennifer’s former BFF Evelyn Lozada, she seemed unwavering in her determination to take Nia to court.

“I’m not going to hit you physically. I’m going to hit you with a lawsuit. I’m not tolerating abuse whether it’s from a man or a woman. You can’t put your hands on people and there be no repercussions,” Jennifer told the DJs at Power 105.1 in February.

However, it seems Shaunie O’Neal’s reunion show pleas did not fall on deaf ears.

“It was wrong on all accounts. We take it very serious, but I wouldn’t want to see any of y’all go to jail over a mistake,” Shaunie said on the show.

According to TMZ, Jennifer didn’t even receive a financial settlement for the high-profile slap. She just simply decided to let Nia off the hook.

There’s speculation that the decision wasn’t just made out of compassion. Season 3 “Basketball Wives” star, Meeka Claxton, filed a lawsuit against a co-star and wasn’t welcomed back to the show.

There were rumors that Jennifer’s co-stars were so uncomfortable around her that they no longer wanted to tape with her. That was followed by reports that the show’s producers fired Jennifer and two other cast members. The move to drop the lawsuit against Nia could help ensure Jennifer returns for season 5.

However, Jennifer clarified, via Twitter, that just because the civil suit against Nia has been dropped, doesn’t mean the Brooklyn native is free and clear.

“FYI- dropping a civil lawsuit doesn’t mean you don’t have to deal with the criminal charges!” she tweeted.

In the meantime, Nia seems to be grateful that Jennifer changed her mind.

“Thanking My Lord for all my new found blessings. Things are looking way… up, because I look to My Lord,” she wrote.

There’s no word yet on whether Nia dropped her reported countersuit against Jennifer.
