Family and friends gathered to pay their last respects to Tameka Foster’s son Kile Glover this morning in Atlanta.
S2S Publisher Jamie Foster Brown was on-hand for the funeral, held at the Wieuca Road Baptist Church. Service arrangements were handled by Phaedra Parks, who coordinated the event with Watkins Funeral Home.
Kile’s stepdad Usher attended the funeral, for which Kile was dressed in a white suit and glasses. His body was brought to the service in a white horse-drawn buggy.
Atlanta Mayor Kaseem Reed spoke beautifully about the 11-year-old, who passed away after suffering from injuries sustained from a horrific jet ski accident on July 6.
In the funeral program, the family shared a postcard Kile sent from his iPhone just before the accident. Kile seemed eager to reunite with loved ones after the vacation. He wrote: "Hello from paradise, wishing you were here. Our vacation is everything we have hoped for and more. We’re also excited to come home to family and friends."
Kile was also remembered in a video titled, "A Beautiful Mind."
Tameka was very brave throughout the service, according to reports. After thanking everyone for their condolences, she announced this morning that her son’s memory will live on through the Kile Glover Fund.
"I appreciate the hundreds, perhaps thousands of prayers. I’m so grateful to you guys. Kile was the most fun, creative, sweet, respectful boy," Tameka wrote on Twitter. "Many have asked where to send flowers, but in Lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a contribution to the Kile Glover Fund @ Bank of America."
She added, "Our goal [is] to increase water safety-thru implementing laws, policies & education. Kiles passing will not be in vain, we will see to this."
Anyone interested in donating to the Kile Glover Fund, can submit payments via PayPal e-mail to TheKileGloverFund@gmail.com. Donations can also been sent directly to account # 3340 3823 9828 at the Bank of America.
