Is LeToya Luckett ditching music for movies?

LeToya Luckett has been busy in front of the camera taking on acting roles, but that doesn’t mean she’s not also in the music studio.

LeToya has done a great job of staying out of the limelight while still getting things done, but the former Destiny’s Child member sat down with SoulTrain.com to talk about her new projects and her highly anticipated third solo album.

LeToya’s got an upcoming film called Note to Self, which hits theaters this fall, a new series on BET called “Second Generation Wayans” and her personal webseries “Life, Love & Music.”

“The fans are always asking me what I’m doing because they haven’t heard anything, so this is what I’m doing! I wanted them to feel involved,” she said.

It seems as if her plate’s pretty full, but LeToya assures she hasn’t put her music on the back burner. She said her untitled third album is more of a start-and-stop process, but she has plans to get back in the studio soon, and admitted there’s still a ways to go.

LeToya said she wants this album to be personal, and she’s going to talk about things she’s been through and has seen her friends and family go through. She said she’s willing to try different things to set this album apart from the previous ones.

“The sound is going to be very open. I’m going to definitely come from all sides. Ladies, a lot of the time, don’t like to admit they’re wrong. I’m going to talk about that. I’m going to talk about the heartbreak, the makeups, the ‘Oh my God, I’m scared to love again’ — that whole thing. I guess I’m going to be real,” she said.

There’s no doubt that her album will still have that great R&B feel, but she does want to work with mainstream rappers like 2Chainz, Future and Drake. But when it comes to today’s R&B, she said there are so many artists that deserve to be heard.

“I love the new Frank Oceans of the world, and Marsha Ambrosius. I heard that Ginuwine, Tank and Tyrese are forming a group—that’s gonna be R&B right there,” she said.

She did not speak about her alleged relationship with OKC Thunder star Kevin Durant.
