Just when it seemed things couldn’t get any worse for Chad Johnson, it is now reported that he could face up to a year in prison.
Earlier this month Chad was arrested on charges of domestic battery after he allegedly head-butted his wife, VH1 “Basketball Wives” star Evelyn Lozada, after she questioned Chad about a receipt she discovered for condoms.
According to reports, his misdemeanor charge from the head-butt incident could be upgraded to a felony because of a prior domestic dispute. In 2000, Chad pleaded no contest in a California court after his then-girlfriend accused him of slapping her. If the prosecution decides to move forward, Chad could face up to one year in prison. There is no final word on whether they plan to increase the charges.
The former NFL player, has seemingly lost everything following his domestic dispute with Evelyn – the marriage, the Miami Dolphins contract, the endorsement deals, the reality show and now this. This comes along with rumors that Chad had been abusive to Evelyn throughout their relationship and supposedly threatened to kill her at one point.
Chad is scheduled to appear in court for the first time regarding the incident on September 13th.
Do you think authorities should upgrade the misdemeanor to a felony given Chad’s prior record? Leave your comments below.
