‘Single Ladies’ creator exits

Series star Stacey Dash left after season 1, and now, show creator, Stacy Littlejohn, is headed out after two seasons of “Single Ladies.”

The popular VH1 scripted series will be returning for a third season, but Stacy, who helped bring the show to life, won’t be lending her talents.

“After two incredible seasons of ‘Single Ladies,’ I have decided to entrust the show to the safe hands of VH1,” she told Deadline. “Having fostered it from its inception, I’ve found great satisfaction in seeing these characters come to life on the screen, and am proud of what the show has become.”

Unlike the exit of the former lead character, the creator’s departure seems to have little to do with creative differences or personality clashes among colleagues.

“I have great respect for the talent on this show, all of whom have upheld my vision since its outset. I wish ‘Single Ladies’ all the best and will continue to tune in Monday nights to see what my girls have been up to.”

Stacy did offer a little insight into why she’s leaving the series.

“After two all-consuming seasons immersed in its production in the great city of Atlanta, I’ve decided it’s time to shift my focus to my life in Las Angeles and the creation of new projects,” she explained.

The series’ stars haven’t commented on the news, but VH1 expressed its gratitude to Stacy for guiding the show to an average of 3.2 million viewers during season 2, according to Deadline.

“We wish her nothing but success in her future endeavors,” said a VH1 spokesperson.

Executive producer Queen Latifah is expected to remain with the show for season 3.
