When the cameras aren’t rolling, "Basketball Wives: LA" star Malaysia Pargo keeps busy with her husband, three children and her jewelry line.
Although she started designing jewelry before appearing on season 1 of the VH1 spin-off, viewers saw her debut Three Beats, a jewelry line catering to children, last fall.
“I felt like it was a market out there, it was fun to do, [and] no one’s really doing it,” she said.
Malaysia said she started putting jewelry on her first son when he was only 3 months old, a tradition passed down from her father, who gave her jewelry when she was young.
The reality star named her line Three Beats after her children, whom she calls “the three heartbeats after my own heart.” She dedicated her ruby-encrusted strawberry pendant to her grandmother Ruby, whose favorite fruit was strawberries.
“I wanted my jewelry to be a keepsake piece, something you pass down from line to line—I wanted it to mean something,” she said.
Her jewelry is currently being sold at Jason’s of Beverly Hills, the Cosmopolitan Hotel and her personal website www.threebeatsjewelry.com. She is currently working on creating a women’s jewelry line that she hopes to launch this fall.
Malaysia admitted that she’s still learning how to balance being a CEO, mother, wife and reality TV star, but she tries to focus her energy on her business and family.
“What I do is when I am at work, I’m at work, [and] when I’m at home, I’m at home. I’m a wife first, mother second and a worker last,” she said.
A portion of the proceeds from Three Beats goes to the Watts-Willowbrook Boys & Girls Club.
