Chad Johnson pleads not guilty to battery charges

Chad Johnson insists that he never laid a hand (or forehead) on his estranged wife Evelyn Lozada.

TMZ.com reports that Chad pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor battery charges this morning. His attorney submitted the plea in Broward County Court today after he was officially charged with domestic battery for an incident in which he allegedly head-butted Evelyn in their driveway.

Meanwhile, Chad is supposedly refusing to give his reality star wife the divorce she’s been seeking since the incident, which occurred just six weeks after they wed in St. Maarten.

According to TMZ, the former Miami Dolphin desperately wants to save his marriage. As such, sources claim that he’s refusing to sign divorce papers and he doesn’t intend to participate in proceedings for the split.

Evelyn can still be granted a divorce from Chad, who recently tattooed his wife’s face on his calf. Under Florida law, all Evelyn needs is a judge’s approval to finalize a split, whether Chad consents to it or not.
