Eva Marcille explains Lance Gross split

Eva Marcille attempted to explain what led to her breakup with actor Lance Gross, but the gist is that they just weren’t ready for marriage.

“We were definitely in love, but I don’t think either of us were really ready to get married,” said “Girlfriend Confidential” star Eva, who dated Lance for five years.

Contrary to some rumors, Eva said Lance was never unfaithful to her, and she didn’t step out on him either.

“Lance didn’t mess up,” she told the DJs at New York’s Power 1051. “I know we were both committed to each other. He didn’t want to be with anyone else. I didn’t want to be with anyone else, so naturally you feel the next step is, ‘Let me propose,’” she explained.

While men are often the ones accused of having cold feet, Eva suggested that Lance had no problem with the idea of commitment. However, she was the one who just wasn’t really feelin’ it.

“I definitely wanted to be with him, but I wanted a long engagement. Then, a year and half, the wedding’s coming up, and I just wasn’t ready. He didn’t do anything wrong… He’s still a great guy. Whoever ends up dating him is going to be very lucky,” she said.

Eva also had an amicable split with Flo’Rida, who she described as “a super-country boy.”

Like with Lance, Eva wasn’t ready to get too serious, and when Flo and his minister started talking marriage, she moved on.

“I didn’t want anything too serious. Flo’s a great guy. He got really holy on me, and wanted to go to church all the time,” she explained, adding that dating the rapper validated him as a celebrity catch.

“A lot of time women don’t give guys the credit necessary until they understand their bank account. Seeing that, obviously, I dated him, to other women that tells them that he must have money, or he must be more successful than they thought. So now he’s eligible,” she said.

Although Lance and Flo’Rida had the financial means to wine and dine the “America’s Next Top Model” alumna, Eva’s now dating a guy she described as “regular.”

“I’m dating this guy from Jamaica. He lives in L.A. He’s just grinding out. He’s literally a regular guy. He’s in his mid-20s,” she said.

Eva talks more about her new beau below and in the October 2012 issue of Sister 2 Sister.
